<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging element in which differences of pixel characteristics between nearby a light receiving surface center position of the imaging element and a peripheral position are suppressed by suppressing fluctuation in potential of a well layer at the light receiving surface center position, to provide a method of manufacturing the imaging element, to provide a method of driving the imaging element, and to provide an imaging apparatus having the imaging element. <P>SOLUTION: As shown in Fig.1(b), a light shielding film 18 which has light shielding property and conductivity is formed on a pixel region 14. The light shielding film 18 has an opening 20 formed at a position corresponding to each photodiode 16. A photodiode 16C positioned in the center of the pixel region 14 is covered with the light shielding film 18. A P<SP>+</SP>type diffusion layer 26C and a P well layer 22 on a surface of the photodiode 16C are electrically connected to a connection part 18C of the light shielding film 18. The P well layer 22 is connected to the light shielding layer 18 to be held at a predetermined potential. Here, the plurality of connection parts 18C may be provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
