<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of a data electrode driving circuit without sacrificing image display quality of a plasma display device. <P>SOLUTION: In a method of driving a plasma display device, a combination set for display is created by selecting a plurality of combinations in any combinations of sub-fields, and grayscale is displayed by controlling light emission or non-emission of a discharge cell by using a combination of sub-fields belonging to a combination set for display. A plurality of combination sets for display having different numbers of combinations are provided. According to the method, respective spatial differences of a red image signal, a green image signal, and a blue image signal are calculated. For an image signal having a large spatial difference, a combination set for display having less number of combinations than that used for an image signal of the color having a small spatial difference is used. Further in the method, if a data electrode driving circuit has high power consumption, a combination set for display having less number of combinations than that used for an image signal when the data electrode driving circuit has low power consumption is used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
