PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buckling-restrained brace which can prevent an end of a core material from being plasticized on the periphery of a joint between the core material and a structural material or being put into a plastic hinge state, which can reinforce the end of the core material by a simple structure, and which can simplify a joint structure by reducing the necessary rigidity of the joint between the core material and the structural material. SOLUTION: This buckling-restrained brace 1 has the core material which receives a compressive force and a tensile force by having both ends joined to a structural material of a wooden building or a mid-to-low-rise building of steel construction. A split core material 2 is loosely inserted into an outer pipe 7 for stiffening the split core material 2, in such a manner as to secure a void from its inner surface; an end coupler 5, which is more rigid than the split core material and which is joined to an end of the split core material and guided by an inner surface of the outer pipe so as to be freely movable in the direction of a pipe axis, is provided inside the end of the outer pipe; and the end of the split core material is joined to the structural material via the end coupler.
