PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk chucking method for preventing mischucking on closing of a tray owing to a state and/or an orientation of a disk loaded on the tray, and a disk drive device for performing the disk chucking method. SOLUTION: The disk chucking method is configured by including: opening a tray 101 on which the disk mounted with a first magnet 109 is to be loaded; moving a transfer unit to a position where attraction between a second magnet 105 mounted on the transfer unit 106 and the first magnet is reduced; and, when the tray is closed, mounting the center of the disk on a turntable.
