PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the erroneous determination of the existence/nonexistence of a misfire by prohibiting misfire determination when a rough road is determined, in a misfire detection device for an internal combustion engine which detects the existence/nonexistence of the misfire in the internal combustion engine based on a crank angular speed from a crank angle sensor. SOLUTION: The misfire detection device for the internal combustion engine includes a control means (4) having: a wheel speed detection means (14) detecting the revolution speed of each wheel of a vehicle; and a misfire determination part (19) calculating a reference speed by inputting the revolution speed of each wheel detected by the wheel speed detection means (14), determining a rough road when a speed difference between the calculated reference speed and the revolution speed of the wheel detected by the wheel speed detection means (14) is a predetermined value or larger, and prohibiting the determination of the misfire when the rough road is determined.
