PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the rice cooking performance, and to shorten the rice cooking period of time. SOLUTION: This rice cooker includes: a rice cooking pan 12 which is housed in a rice cooker body 11 and a heating means 13 which heats the rice cooking pan 12. A percussion wave of a high pressure range can be generated by providing a percussion wave generating means 15 which applies a percussion wave to a to-be-cooked object by installing at least a set of electrodes 16 and 17 in the rice cooking pan 12, and making the electrodes 16 and 17 discharge in the water. Therefore, the cells of the rice which is the to-be-cooked object are destroyed, the water permeates to the inside of the rice, and the water absorption is instantly completed. Therefore, a conventional water absorbing period of time can be eliminated, and the rice cooking over a short period of time becomes possible. Thus, the rice cooking performance can be improved, and the to-be-cooked object with a better taste can be offered to a user over a short period of time. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
