The method involves cutting a sheet metal strip (2) from a flat sheet metal plate by a laser beam, where the metal strip corresponds to a flat projection of a base of a taper roller bearing cage. The metal strip is rolled to a truncated cone-shaped ring (4). Joints of the truncated cone-shaped ring are connected adhesively by welding i.e. laser beam welding, and retaining bags for taper roller bearings are inserted into the truncated cone-shaped ring. The sheet metal plate is used with constant thickness.
