PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the event that braking force is suddenly increased to worsen drivability when power transmission is cut off during down-shift executed with a reduction of a vehicle speed, by increasing engine output with the control of an idle rotating speed when braking force is generated in the case that a target idle rotating speed is higher than a down-shift rotating speed. SOLUTION: When the target idle rotating speed neidl is higher than the down-shift rotating speed nedn and a brake is ON or predetermined braking force of vehicle deceleration≥G1 is being generated, a down-shift line is changed to the side of a high vehicle speed so that down-shift is executed on the side of high rotation beyond the target idle rotating speed neidl. Thus, down-shift is executed before the idle rotating speed is controlled, and engine output is increased with the control of the idle rotating speed.
