PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device easily preventing poor display after starting display with low power consumption. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display panel 40, a counter electrode 52 is provided to a substrate opposing to a substrate on which a pixel electrode 64 and a shared electrode 63 for driving liquid crystal among the pair of substrates having a liquid crystal layer therebetween are provided, and a voltage is applied to the counter electrode 52 by a drive part 102 for displaying. At this time, application of a voltage to the counter electrode 53 is started as soon as starting displaying, and as a predetermined voltage application time has passed since displaying is started, the drive part 102 for displaying is controlled by a control part 101, so that application of the voltage to the counter electrode 53 is stopped and the counter electrode 53 is in a floating state.
