PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which reduces image sticking without impairing flatness of surfaces on a liquid crystal side. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with: a sheet-like first electrode formed of a transparent conductive film; a first insulating film formed to cover the first electrode; and a plurality of linear second electrodes formed by a transparent conductive film and arranged on the first insulating film so as to overlap the first electrode in a pixel region on a surface on the liquid crystal side of a first substrate of the first substrate and a second substrate arranged to be opposed to each other while holding liquid crystal therebetween, and is driven by rotating liquid crystal molecules in a plane parallel to the first substrate by a voltage applied between the first electrode and the second electrodes. The liquid crystal display device has a second insulating film formed on the first insulating film so as to cover the second electrodes, and the second insulating film is made of the same material as the first insulating film.
