The method involves assigning an actual movement function e.g. kymograph, of an object to phase information of synchronization signals (10) before image recording by an image recording system (1) e.g. computer tomography, magnetic resonance tomography or position-emission tomography. The actual movement of the object is determined by another image recording system (21), which is independent of the former recording system. Individual imaging elements (2) e.g. detector, of the former recording system are controlled based on preset movement phase with respect to the synchronization signals. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an image recording system e.g. computer tomography, for representing an object moving in quasi-periodic manner (2) a computer program comprising computer program codes for executing a method of representing an object moving in quasi-periodic manner.
