PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a force sensor device which uses the shaft itself as a magnetoelastic transducer element. SOLUTION: The sensor device includes an elongate member (hereinafter called shaft) which is operably provided so as to induce a bending moment with respect to one end by a force applied at the other end of the shaft. The shaft has an integral portion which is circumferentially magnetized. The magnetic flux outside the integral portion is a function of the bending moment induced in the integral portion. The sensor device also includes a sensor means which responds to the external magnetic field to generate a signal representing the bending moment in the shaft. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
