PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a lithium ion capacitor without using a metal lithium in the lithium ion capacitor formed in such a way that a laminate formed by laminating an anode electrode sheet, a cathode electrode sheet for reversibly occluding and discharging lithium ions and a separator are housed in a container, and an electrolyte containing lithium ions is injected in the container to impregnate them into the laminate and the container is sealed while the tips of terminals of the electrode sheets are exposed to the outside. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method includes injecting the electrolyte containing lithium ions into the container, energizing the electrode sheet to apply electric field activation, causing the cathode electrode sheet to occlude lithium ions, and replacing the electrolyte containing the lithium ions by a new electrolyte containing lithium ions.
