摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping device for sufficiently developing the primary effect of a base isolation device while more quickly damping vibration by properly rotating a rotor including a nut member relative to a screw rod to selectively adjust the position of a fixed outer cylinder in the axial direction of the rod. SOLUTION: The damping device includes a housing joined to a first structure, the screw rod to be moved forward and backward in the axial direction with one end joined to a second structure, and having a spiral screw groove formed in the outer peripheral face, the rotor rotatably supported on the housing to form a damping force operation chamber in opposition to the housing via a predetermined space, and threaded to the screw rod, viscous fluid filled in the operation chamber, an electric motor connected to the rotor for rotating the rotor, and a motor control part for controlling the electric motor depending on the detection result of a sensor for detecting the occurrence of vibration.
