A vehicle cooling apparatus for an engine powered by a liquid fuel comprising a liquid fuel vaporiser 120 for vaporising liquid fuel before the fuel is supplied to the engine 110. The vaporiser has a vaporiser heat exchanger 125 through which coolant may be passed, the cooling apparatus being arranged to allow a transfer of thermal energy from the coolant to liquid fuel in the vaporiser. The vaporiser heat exchanger is coupled in fluid communication with a heat exchanger 115 of a target object to be cooled thereby to allow circulation of coolant through the vaporiser heat exchanger and the target object heat exchanger. The target object heat exchanger is arranged to allow a transfer of thermal energy from the target object to the coolant. The target object to be cooled comprises an exhaust gas handling portion of the engine. The engine may be a gas turbine engine. In another embodiment a fuel vaporiser is used to cool a target object.
