793,590. Pressure-relieving devices for fluids. ACCUMULATOREN FABRIK AKT.-GES. Feb. 21, 1956 [Feb. 28, 1955], No. 5399/56. Class 135. [Also in Group XXXVI] A pressure release device, particularly for an electric accumulator, comprises a membrane 2 of soft rubber and a superposed thinner membrane 3 of harder material, e.g. plastics, which are torn when the interior pressure exceeds a permissible value. One of the membranes may have a small hole or knife cut. The space between the transparent cover 7 and the membrane 3 is filled with a sound-absorbing material 6 impregnated with an indicator solution which changes colour on ejection of the electrolyte from the accumulator consequent on tearing of the membranes. |
