<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for producing a thin plate, with which production of the thin plate is not influenced by floating objects even when the floating objects are caused from fallen objects or the like when the thin plate is produced. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus produces the thin plate by a immersion treatment comprising immersing the surface layer part of a ground plate into a melt 102 and then sticking the thin plate formed by the solidification of the melt 102 on the surface of the ground plate. The apparatus for producing the thin plate includes a crucible 101, an immersion device, and a movable plate 105. The crucible 101 holds the melt 102 at its inside.
