PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for storing an aqueous alkali solution with which a waste aromatic polycarbonate (e.g. an aromatic polycarbonate product such as a CD, a CD-ROM or a DVD which became unnecessary) is inexpensively mass-treated to afford the aqueous alkali solution of a high-purity aromatic dihydroxy compound.
SOLUTION: The method for storing the aqueous alkali solution of the aromatic dihydroxy compound obtained by degrading the waste aromatic polycarbonate resin is characterized as follows. The waste aromatic polycarbonate resin is dissolved in an organic solvent and the polycarbonate resin in the organic solvent solution is degraded in the presence of an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide. The resultant reaction solution after the degradation is separated into an organic solvent phase and an aqueous alkali solution phase. An antioxidant in an amount of 0.05-10 pts. wt. based on 100 pts. wt. of the aromatic dihydroxy compound is contained in the resultant aqueous alkali solution and the obtained aqueous alkali solution is stored.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
|
