FIELD: agriculture. ^ SUBSTANCE: method includes preliminary establishment of optimal time for trap arrangement with account of the latter filling by 50%. Trap is installed in locking chamber at the side of spawning pond, blocking passage for producers. For this purpose time of trap operation is determined according to formula: A = t ù K where A - time of trap net operation, sec; t - time of trap net chamber filling by 50%, sec; K - conversion factor for selection of optimal time of trap net operation equal to 0.05. Total number of producers passed into spawning pond is determined according to the following formula: where P - number of producers that passed into spawning pond during the time of locking chamber operation, pcs.; B - time of locking chamber operation, sec.; p - number of producers caught into trap net during the time of sampling, pcs.
