Detergent dispensing device

The device 1 includes a cartridge 5 within a housing 2. The cartridge is divided into a plurality of chambers 9. The cartridge may have a cylindrical or linear shape (figure 2b). Each chamber is filled with a detergent composition. An inlet aperture 12 in a rotatable lid 3 directs wash liquor into a particular chamber of the cartridge. The lid may be rotated manually or automatically during a machine wash cycle. Drainage apertures 10 are provided for the chambers which lead to a uni-directional flow outlet 13. Alternatively a protective film may act as a barrier to wash liquor ingress to the chambers. The film is moved by a winder, or pierced, to allow successive chambers to be opened and access for the wash liquor.
