PURPOSE: A method and a device for determining the reaction depth of gamma ray in a gamma ray detector are provided to determine the reaction depth of gamma ray regardless of the kind of a gamma ray detector. CONSTITUTION: A first raise time is measured, which indicates a time required to raise a signal generated by reacting a correcting-purpose gamma ray having the energy E with a gamma ray detector to a specific level. At the first raise time, a first reaction depth is measured, which is generated by the reaction of the correcting-purpose gamma ray with the gamma ray detector. A correlation of the first raise time and the first reaction depth is obtained based on a first relation of the first raise time and the number of reacting gamma rays, and a second relation of the first reaction depth and the number of reacting gamma rays(S100). A second raise time of a signal, which is generated by the reacting of a unknown gamma-ray with the gamma ray detector, is measured(S110). A second reaction depth at which the unknown gamma ray reacts with the gamma ray detector is determined based on the correlation and the second raise time(S120).
