The installation (100) has a rectangular lower loading plate (150A) and rectangular loading plates (150B, 150C) for receiving cage shaped racks (300). Each plate has a surface corresponding to surfaces of the racks to form sites and bear ribs homologous with blocking grooves of the racks. A locking unit locks the lower plate with a loading surface (250) of a vehicle (200). A lifting equipment comprises twinned cranes (180A, 180B) respectively at front and rear portions of the loading surface to take the plates loaded with the racks and to stack or extract the racks on the vehicle.
