The device (D) has a light signaling unit (MS) placed in a state chosen from an off state and an on state, for signaling a current operating mode of functional units i.e. petrol and electric engines (M1, M2), of a vehicle (V) to exterior of the vehicle. The signaling unit is located near an outlet of a silencer (PE) of the vehicle or in a visible part i.e. tube cover, of a rear element i.e. rear bumper or rear face bar (PC), of the vehicle. The signaling unit is chosen from a group comprising an LED, a light guide, a halogen lamp and a bulb.
