PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a magnetic disk having: a mechanical strength endurable to a further thin film formation; and a protection layer having a high affinity with a lubricating layer. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk is provided with: magnetic layer 50; protection layer 60; and lubricating layer 70 successively on a substrate 10. After the magnetic layer 50 and the protection layer 60 are formed successively on the substrate 10, the protection layer 60 is exposed in plasma under normal pressure, and thereafter, the lubrication layer 70 is formed on the protection layer 60. The plasma is produced in at least one kind of gases selected from among nitrogen gas, argon gas, oxygen gas and fluorine hydrocarbon gas.
