PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain efficient backup. SOLUTION: The backup management device 1 for managing file backup sets a backup condition, and simulates a state of a migration source storage device 2 and a state of a migration destination storage device 3 for the case of migrating a file, according to the condition, and displays a result of the simulation on a display part 108. The backup management device 1 calculates, in the simulation, simulated total migration data volume value when migrating the file according to the condition, and simulated total remaining data volume value when migrating the file, and determines whether the simulated total migration data volume value is smaller than the current free space in the migration destination storage device 3 or not, and whether the simulated total remaining data volume value is smaller than the amount of data remaining in the set migration source storage device 2 or not.
