<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image pickup element capable of providing sufficient sensitivity and photoelectric conversion efficiency even if pixels are miniaturized. <P>SOLUTION: The solid-state image pickup element includes a basic cell comprising a plurality of pixels sharing a floating diffusion FD, transistors Tr1, Tr2, and Tr3 shared among the plurality of pixels constituting the basic cell and arranged outside the plurality of pixels, a light-receiving part 1 connected to the floating diffusion FD shared among the pixels of the basic cell through a transfer gate 2 on-chip lenses 5 arranged at almost constant intervals, and a first optical waveguide 3 and a second optical waveguide 4 formed so that their plane positions are deviated from the center 1C of the light-receiving part 1 toward sides of the transistors Tr1, Tr2, and Tr3.
