PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that achieves quick jam handling and contributes to power saving. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 10 comprises an ADF 11. The ADF 11 comprises a U-turn conveying path 16. The U-turn conveying path 16 comprises: a first conveying path 26; a curved conveying path 27; and a second conveying path 28. The first conveying path 26 is opened and closed by a conveying path cover 23. A pinch roller 63 is disposed in the curved conveying path 27, and it is impossible to release a nip by the pinch roller 63. When the length of a document sheet is larger than the distance A between a conveying roller 61 and the pinch roller 63, conveyance is stopped. When the length of the document sheet is larger than the distance A and is less than the distance B between the pinch roller 63 and a discharge roller 72, the sheet is conveyed until the document sheet is taken out from an opening 84.
