<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain optical fibers which allow an optical signal to be transmitted from a transmission part to a reception part by one optical fiber regardless of difference in diameter between the transmission part and the reception part, a bundle fiber, and a method for manufacturing the bundle fiber. <P>SOLUTION: A core of an optical fiber 12 has: a large-diameter portion 14A through which an optical signal is transmitted; a small-diameter portion 14B having a smaller diameter than the large-diameter portion, through which the optical signal is transmitted; and a gradual diameter change portion 14C formed between the large-diameter portion 14A and the small-diameter portion 14B and having the diameter gradually changed from the diameter of the large-diameter portion 14A to that of the small-diameter portion 14B. The optical signal incident from an end part of the large-diameter portion 14A of the core 14 is transmitted through the large-diameter portion 14A and is further transmitted through the gradual diameter change portion 14C and then impinges on one end of the small-diameter portion 14B and is emitted from the other end of the small-diameter portion 14B. Since the diameter of the core 14 is gradually reduced halfway in this manner, the optical signal can be transmitted from the transmission part to the reception part by one optical fiber 12 regardless of difference in diameter between the transmission part and the reception part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
