PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable radio terminal capable of preventing deterioration in antenna characteristics with a comparatively sufficient accuracy with a simple circuit configuration. SOLUTION: The portable radio terminal includes a plurality of antennas 1 and 2, a plurality of position detecting means 3 and 4, a matching circuit 5, an antenna selection means 6, and an impedance matching means 7. The plurality of position detecting means 3 and 4 output a detection signal if the means detect approach of a human body. The matching circuit 5 can perform a plurality of kinds of impedance adjustment. In response to which position detecting means outputs the detection signal, the antenna selection means 6 performs antenna selection processing to select one antenna among the plurality of antennas. The impedance matching means 7 performs impedance matching processing to cause the matching circuit 5 to carry out impedance adjustment, according to which position detecting means outputs the detection signal.
