PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which is excellent in operability when a display panel is housed and in which the display panel is fixed and held at the prescribed position over a long period, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal panel 1 of which the plane external shape is rectangular is held by a level difference plane 322 of a frame 3, end plane positions of four sides are regulated by a side plate 31, three edge sides excluding a side facing to one plate part 121 of a front glass substrate 11 and a pair of edge sides being opposed in one plate part 121 of a rear glass substrate 12 are engaged to locking projections 315a to 515h erected in concave parts 314a to 314h provided in the inside faces of side plates 312a to 312c, and fixed and held at the prescribed positions of the frame 3. When the frame 3 is formed by using a thermoplastic resin material, each tip hook part of the locking projections 315a to 515h is formed by heating, melting, and crushing each tip parts of a bar type projections obtained by forming integrally.
