PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper foil with which the peeling-off of a coating film can be suppressed excellently, and which has a roughened surface structure achieving a superior capacity maintenance factor when used in a lithium secondary battery, and to provide a manufacturing method of the copper foil. SOLUTION: A copper or copper alloy foil includes a copper or copper alloy foil base material, a first layer having a plurality of particles made of a first metal to cover the copper or the copper alloy foil base material, and a second layer having a plurality of tabular bodies made of a second metal stood on the particle surface.
