WATER-IN-OIL EMULSION AND METHOD FOR PREPARING SAME, AND FOAM SHEET AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME

Disclosed is a water-in-oil emulsion which has excellent stability even without containing any emulsifying agent and can be polymerized to form a foam sheet and also disclosed is a foam sheet prepared using the same. The water-in-oil emulsion which contains components (a) and (b) and does not contain any emulsifying agent is prepared: (a) a continuous oily phase component containing i) at least one prepolymer syrup obtained by the partial polymerization of a polymerizable monomer composition containing an ethylenic unsaturated monomer and at least one polar monomer copolymerizable with the ethylenic unsaturated monomer, ii) at least one polymerization initiator, and iii) at least one crosslinking agent; and (b) at least one co-continuous or discontinuous phase component which contains at least one water-soluble polymeric compound and is immiscible with the continuous oily phase component. Further, such an emulsion is polymerized, followed by dehydration, whereby a foam sheet is produced.
