The tensioning tool (1) has a torque rod (3) arranged between two clamping arms (2,2'). An end of the torque rod has a left inner thread, where another end is provided with right inner thread. The former clamping arm has a left outer thread (4'), where the latter clamping arm is provided with right outer arm (4). An independent claim is also included for a method for tensioning a belt of a belt drive, particularly a belt-propelled roller conveyor.
