PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat device for a vehicle having a compact structure even in the case that the height of a seat surface is adjustable and forward slipping of an occupant on collision of the vehicle can be inhibited. SOLUTION: The seat device VS for the vehicle includes a height adjusting mechanism HA of a seat part 12, an actuator 16 and a control device. The adjusting mechanism HA includes a support part 40 of a lower part side of the seat part, a front support rod 37 and a rear support rod 38 arranged for the support part, a motor 23 for rotating a driving shaft 23a by operation of an operation switch 21 and a motion transmission mechanism MT for mechanically converting the rotation of the driving shaft 23a to vertical movement of distal end parts 37a, 38a of the front and rear support rods rotating around a base parts 37b, 38b side. The actuator forcibly moves forward an engaging portion 26 operated by a control device which detects collision of the vehicle and engaged to the base part side of the front and rear support rod in the motion transmission mechanism so that the distal end parts of the front support rod and the rear support rod rotate upward over a driving range of the motor.
