The invention relates to an indicator knob (1) for a receptacle (2) for preparing food and beverages. The knob comprises an airtight envelope (11), a bar (12) made of a suitable thermally conductive material and a circuit (10). The bar has an inner end (121) within the envelope and an outer end (122) that projects from the envelope. The circuit comprises a microcontroller (17), a temperature sensor (13) placed in contact with the inner end of the bar, an alarm (14) suitable to be activated by the microcontroller, and a battery (15) suitable to supply the circuit.
