<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator safety device which includes a first foreign substance detection means for detecting a foreign substance based on an image signal obtained from a photographing means for photographing a doorway; and a second foreign substance detection means for detecting a foreign substance by using a light beam crossing the doorway, and which detects failure occurrences in these foreign substance detection means. <P>SOLUTION: The elevator safety device includes the first foreign substance detection means, the second foreign substance detection means, and a failure detection means. During execution of a foreign substance detection operation by the first foreign substance detection means and a foreign substance detection operation by the second foreign substance detection means in the progress that a car door changes from a fully open state to a fully closed state, the failure detection means determines that a failure occurs in either one of these foreign substance detection means when a foreign substance detection signal is generated by either one of the first and second foreign substance detection means, and no foreign substance detection signal is generated by the other foreign substance detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
