<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for detecting the rotation direction of a driving motor. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes: a position detecting part 39 which detects a rotational position of the driving motor 33, and outputs a detection signal; a sensor 32 which receives a light beam L deflected by the rotary polygon mirror, and outputs a light receiving signal; and a detecting part 38 which receives a position signal and the light receiving signal, and detects a rotation direction of the driving motor based on a timing pattern of detection of the rotational position and reception of the light beam by the sensor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
