PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device high in the degree of design flexibility allowing a voice output means and a voice receiving means to be freely arranged. SOLUTION: An ink cartridge 10 is provided with a speaker 13 and a cartridge information storage part 16 storing information on a color, a capacity and a destination region of stored ink. A body has a sounding request part 62 sequentially outputting request signals for requesting the emission of voices unique to one information on the color, the capacity and the destination region of the ink stored in the cartridge information storage part 16 to four ink cartridges 10 mounted to mounting parts 5a to 5d, and a microphone 8 receiving the voices uttered from the speaker 13 of each ink cartridge 10. The ink cartridge is further provided with a voice signal generating part 18 converting one of the information on the color, the capacity and the destination region of the ink stored in the cartridge information storage part 16 into a voice signal unique to the information and outputting it to the speaker 13 when the sounding request part 62 outputs the request signal.
