PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing polylactic acid, in which the polylactic acid of uniform quality is obtained and the time for producing the polylactic acid is reduced, an apparatus for producing the polylactic acid, a method for producing a biodegradable plastic and an apparatus for producing the biodegradable plastic. SOLUTION: The method and the apparatus comprise: the first fermentation tank 12 in which plant raw material is sealed and lactic acid fermentation is carried out; the first separating device 13 which separates the liquid part and the solid part from the product fermented in the first fermentation tank 12; the second fermentation tank 15 in which the liquid part of the fermented product separated by the first separation device 13 is sealed and re-fermentation is carried out; the second separation device 16 which separates the liquid part and the solid part from the product re-fermented in the second fermentation tank 15; the dehumidifying device 17 which evaporates water and extracts lactic acid from the liquid part of the re-fermented product separated by the second separation device 16; and the polymerization device 18 which heats and polymerizes the lactic acid extracted by the dehumidifying device 17 to obtain polylactic acid.
