PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polyester and an aromatic polyester molded article comprising it excellent in transparency, heat-resistance, mechanical characteristic and aroma retention property and capable of being advantageously used as a vessel for food or beverage and packaging material. SOLUTION: The aromatic polyester includes a polycondensation catalyst containing at least one selected from the group consisting of aluminum compounds. In the aromatic polyester, when a bitter taste value and an astringency value of extraction water obtained by performing extraction treatment of the molded article comprising the aromatic polyester in ultra-pure water at 80°C for one hour are measured by a taste inspection apparatus provided with a taste sensor comprising an artificial lipid membrane, the difference of the bitter taste value of the extraction water and the bitter taste value of the ultra-pure water and the difference of the astringency value of the extraction water and the astringency value of the ultra-pure water are each 0.5 or less.
