PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module including an optical coupling part, which is manufactured at low cost and is capable of more efficiently transmitting an optical signal. SOLUTION: In an optical coupling structure wherein an optical coupling part 3 for optical coupling between an optical semiconductor element 1 and an optical transmission line 2 having an optical axis 2b crossing an optical axis 1b of the optical semiconductor element 1 at a prescribed angle θ is provided and the optical transmission line 2 is disposed apart from a mounting surface 4a of a substrate 4, the optical coupling part 3 includes a resin transparent to transmitted light, and this resin is brought into close contact with at least part of a light emitting and receiving part 1a of the optical semiconductor element 1 and at least part of an end 2a of the optical transmission line 2, and an outer surface 3a of the resin constituting the optical coupling part 3 is concave toward the light emitting and receiving part 1a of the optical semiconductor element 1 and the end 2a of the optical transmission line 2.
