<p>Provided is an arbitrary viewpoint image synthesizing device which generates an image in which an image capturing direction and an eye direction match by subjecting images captured by a plurality of cameras in different image capturing directions to synthesis processing. On the basis of a parameter stored in a camera parameter storage unit (26), coordinate transformation units (21, 22, 23) coordinate-transform images from respective cameras (2A, 2B, 2C). The transformed images are passed to a distance estimation unit (24) and an image synthesis unit (25). The image estimation unit (24) evaluates the three images by block-matching every pair of images. The image synthesis unit (25) synthesizes an image from the viewpoint of a virtual camera by extracting colors of corresponding pixels from the coordinate-transformed images and pasting the extracted colors on a created distance image of a subject.</p> |
