<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractory material excellent in spalling resistance, capable of enhancing the strength without increasing the coefficient of elasticity by reinforcing the refractory material by using heat-resistant fiber made of one type or more of carbonaceous fiber, vitreous fiber and ceramic fiber and thus, capable of stably suppressing spalling. <P>SOLUTION: In the refractory material excellent in spalling resistance, textile of the heat-resistant fiber made of one type or more of carbonaceous fiber, vitreous fiber and ceramic fiber is bonded to or wound around the surface of the refractory material.
