PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a box having a hinge structure by which a free stop function can last by a simple and inexpensive structure. SOLUTION: The box 1 includes a box body 2 having an opening, and a cover 3 opening and closing the opening of the box body. The box 1 has a hinge mechanism of which a hinge pin 4 extending through projections 2a, 3a projectingly formed on ends of the box body and the cover, respectively, to open and close the cover is inserted into pin holes 2b, 3b respectively formed in the box body and the cover. In the state that a tube 5 of an elastic material is inserted and fitted into the pin hole formed in the projection of the cover, the pin holes of the box body and the cover are arranged to be coaxial, and the hinge pin of a hard material is inserted under pressure from an outer end of the pin hole of the box body. In the state that the hinge pin is completely inserted into the pin hole of the box body, an outer peripheral surface of an inner end of the hinge pin is brought into tight contact with an inner peripheral surface of the tube of the elastic material. The tube of the elastic material is pressed and elastically deformed, so that a frictional force is generated between the inner peripheral surface of the pin hole of the cover and the tube.
