PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel having high-definition and high-brightness display performance and lower power consumption. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel includes a front face plate 2 having a dielectric layer 8 formed to cover a display electrode 6 formed on a substrate, and a protecting layer 9 formed on the dielectric layer 8, and a back face plate opposed to the front face plate 2 to form a discharge space, and having an address electrode formed in the direction of crossing the display electrode 6 and barrier ribs for partitioning the discharge space. The protecting layer 9 on the front face plate 2 includes a base film 91 formed on the dielectric layer 8, and agglomerated particles 92 deposited on the base film 91 to be distributed all over the surface. The agglomerated particles 92 consist of a plurality of agglomerated crystal particles formed of metal oxide, emit light in a wavelength region of 200 to 300 nm, and have a timeτ<SB>0.5</SB>, in which the light intensity attenuates to 50%, satisfyingτ<SB>0.5</SB>≥60 ms.
