PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reproduction device which reads user data even when failing to read a sync mark. SOLUTION: When the device fails to read a sync mark from a sector, an HDC 122 estimates a start position at which reading of the user data or the like is started, based on the read position of a preamble, and causes the device to read the user data in a position n clocks before the estimated start position.
