PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter enabling high transmittance while securing high color purity and effectively preventing pigment color fade, and to provide a display using the color filter. SOLUTION: The color filter includes: a base material; a coloring layer formed on the base material and including pigment as a color material; and an ultraviolet ray blocking layer formed on the surface opposite to the coloring layer of the base material. The wavelength of 50% of transmittance of the ultraviolet ray filter layer is 400 nm or more and is positioned in a shorter wavelength side by 25 nm or more from the wavelength of a light emission peak of the side of the shortest wavelength in a visible light region of combined light source light. In addition, concerning the display, the color filter includes: the base material; the coloring layer formed on the base material and including the pigment as the color material; and the ultraviolet ray blocking layer formed on the surface opposite to the coloring layer of the base material.
