PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breaking strength measuring device for measuring the breaking strength of a measuring object with high accuracy even where the downsizing and thinning of an easily broken measuring object is pursued. SOLUTION: This breaking strength measuring device 1 includes a stage 2 for thereon mounting the measuring object 13, a load application device (lifting and lowering device) 33 for applying a load on the measuring object 13, a presser 14 linked to the load application device 33 for pressing the measuring object 13, a sensor 12 for detecting a change in the measuring object 13 when the measuring object 13 is broken, and a load detector 32 for detecting a load applied by the presser 14 when the change in the measuring object 13 is detected by the sensor 12 when the measuring object 13 is broken. The sensor 12 is a sensor for detecting a change in the measuring object 13 itself. Elastic bodies (springs) 21 and 22 are inserted between the load application device 33 and the presser 14.
