The system (1) has a fuel injection system (3) injecting liquid fuel (5) into a combustion chamber of an internal-combustion engine. An auxiliary fuel pump (11) is connected at a suction-side of a fuel tank (2), and has an auxiliary drive (13) independent of the engine. A switching valve (16) connects a pressure side of the auxiliary fuel pump with a suction side of a fuel pump (4) in a switching position (I), and connects the tank with the suction side of the fuel pump and the pressure side of the auxiliary fuel pump with an additional fuel consumer (8) in another switching position (II).
