PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To let a listener listen to sound from a telephone set while wearing a headphone device. SOLUTION: A microphone 111 and a microphone 112 are installed in housings, on the right and left sides of this headphone device 100 and collect call sound generated from a cellular phone and external sound around the headphone device 100. A contact determining section 200 determines the presence of contact to the cellular phone, based on pressure signals from pressure sensors 121 and 122 installed in housings on the right and the left sides of the headphone device 100. When the contact is determined to be present by the contact determining section 200, an output sound control section 300 causes the call sound collected from the microphone 111 or 112, on a side where the contact is determined as being present to be output from a speaker 161 or 162, on the side where the contact is determined as being present. The output sound control section 300 causes the external sounds collected from the opposite microphone 112 or 111 to be output from the opposite speaker 162 or 161 along therewith.
